{"id":3587,"date":"2021-11-27T16:10:59","date_gmt":"2021-11-27T22:10:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bigdadoo.com\/blog\/?p=3587"},"modified":"2021-11-27T17:36:01","modified_gmt":"2021-11-27T23:36:01","slug":"snake-bite","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bigdadoo.com\/blog\/2021\/11\/27\/snake-bite\/","title":{"rendered":"Snake Bite"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A story from the Cottage Build.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, one day after my dad and I had finished working for the day we were relaxing in the RV and participating in what was commonly known in our family circles as \u201cthe cocktail hour\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bigdadoo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/img_2135-391x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3589\" width=\"196\" height=\"512\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bigdadoo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/img_2135-391x1024.jpg 391w, https:\/\/www.bigdadoo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/img_2135-57x150.jpg 57w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 196px) 100vw, 196px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Generally, the \u201chour\u201d was quite loosely defined. All it really meant was pre-dinner drinking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I had brought some Yukon Jack which my dad had never had and there is this recipe on the back called a \u201cSnake Bite\u201d. It\u2019s pretty simple, some ice, a squeeze of lime juice and of course some Yukon Jack. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">I find them pretty tasty and I think my dad did too as we imbibed quite liberally. I think dinner did get made but I\u2019m not too sure and by the end of the evening \u201cJack\u201d was no more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We had some interesting and wide ranging conversations about some quite deep and personal stuff. It was quite a special time for me, just the two of us, man to man. I don\u2019t remember much about the conversation details but the one thing that sticks out was I told my dad I loved him. Might of been the first time I\u2019d said it out loud, just the two of us. A good memory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The next morning was pretty rough but we didn\u2019t talk about our hangovers we just had some breakfast, maybe just a coffee, and got to work.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A story from the Cottage Build.
