{"id":124,"date":"2006-07-30T08:30:05","date_gmt":"2006-07-30T14:30:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bigdadoo.com\/blog\/?p=124"},"modified":"2006-07-30T08:42:50","modified_gmt":"2006-07-30T14:42:50","slug":"i-smell-smoke","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bigdadoo.com\/blog\/2006\/07\/30\/i-smell-smoke\/","title":{"rendered":"I smell smoke"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is never a really good sign at the lake especially when there is a severe forest fire hazard and all burning is restricted. <\/p>\n<p>We had been outside from about 7-9pm and had walked up the road and out to the point on the trail I&#8217;ve been working on and enjoyed watching the sun go down. I&#8217;d taken a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/big_dadoo\/201793582\/\">few photos<\/a>, watched a beaver swim around the point and then we headed back to the cottage on the east side of the trail. We&#8217;d just settled in to watch a movie when I noticed a strong smoke smell. Not the fireplace kind of smell, but something much bigger. We had a look around but couldn&#8217;t see anything. The wind from the west had picked up and I guess smoke from one of the may forest fires had blown in. A couple of hours later, it was like nothing had ever happened. <\/p>\n<p>Experiences like this&nbsp; makes me&nbsp; think about what might have been and appreciate my surroundings even more.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is never a really good sign at the lake especially when there is a severe forest fire hazard and all burning is restricted.
